On May 15, the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport announced $188,000 in funding for important infrastructure upgrades to Sagebrush Theatre and the Pavilion Theatre, both spaces operated by Western Canada Theatre. Minister Garneau made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage. The funding has been provided through the Government of Canada’s cultural infrastructure program, the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund.

The funding will allow for the completion of much-needed renovations to both the Sagebrush and Pavilion Theatres that will enhance audiences’ experience and will help ensure the venues are safe, secure, and up-to-date.

The project is scheduled to continue throughout the summer so that both freshly modernized venues are ready to welcome Kamloops audiences, artists, and staff when the fall arts season resumes.
