Gaming Grants Deadline Extended

BULLETIN: COMMUNITY GAMING GRANT DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JUNE 3

Due to technical difficulties, the Arts and Culture deadline for Community Gaming Grant applications has been extended from Thursday May 31 to Sunday June 3. 

According to Ursula Cowland, Executive Director of the Grants Division, the problems with the online service are expected to be fixed within a few hours. 

Applicants will be given until Sunday June 3 to make up for the inconvenience.

Webcast Chat About Arts & Culture In Vancouver

Alliance for Arts and Culture executive director Rob Gloor will join Bard on the Beach artistic director and founder Christopher Gaze and The Vancouver Sun's theatre critic Peter Birnie and for a half-hour live webcast chat about arts and culture in Vancouver on Thursday, May 31.

The webcast will open with Bard student actors performing a scene from “The Taming of the Shrew” and a pre-taped tour of the Bard site.

Rob will join Peter and Christopher for the live portion of the webcast, to dicuss a wide range of questions about the local arts scene.

Submissions are now open for the annual Carter Wosk BC Creative Achievement Awards for Applied Art and Design, celebrating British Columbians who, through their creativity, contribute to the cultural and economic fabric of the Province.

New Executive Director For CelticFest

CelticFest Vancouver Society has announced that, after nine years at the helm of one of Vancouver’s most popular festivals, Rita Albano is retiring from her position as Executive Producer of CelticFest to seek new and exciting opportunities.

Effective July 1, Rita will pass the torch on to the organization’s new Executive Director, Ian McAteer, who will lead the festival forward in 2013. Rita will continue to provide guidance and support to the organization in the next year.

A Night of Comedic Fundraising At Kay Meek Centre

On Friday, June 15, 2012, Kay Meek Centre will host the community party and performing arts centre fundraiser of the year: “Two Men, No Script: An Evening With Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood” with celebrity host Vicki Gabereau.
