Nominations Open for Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Community Programming

The following is excerpted from a communication issued by Canada's History.

Nominations are now open for the Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Community Programming. The prize is awarded to two applicants annually, this award recognizes projects or initiatives that encourage a greater public interest in the past.

The 2018 recipients will receive:

• A cash prize of $2500;
• Travel and accommodations for two individuals to travel to Ottawa to attend the awards ceremony at Rideau Hall, the Canada’s History Forum, and the History Makers celebration dinner; and
• A medal from Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada.

Eligible projects can include exhibits, digital projects, conservation initiatives, and educational and public programming. If you know a community history project that deserves recognition, complete a nomination or apply today!
