At SEAOM, we believe it's not just about music lessons; it's about cultivating lifelong skills, including discipline, goal setting, hard work, self-confidence, self-awareness, and kindness. We offer RCM examination preparation, Suzuki method-based lessons, and fiddle lessons (using the Fiddleworks series and other resources). We accept students ranging from complete beginner to pre-professional and ages 4+.

Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic new member to join our violin/fiddle/viola teaching team for our North Vancouver location (445 Mountain Hwy). The ideal candidate will be primarily a violin instructor, with additional experience in teaching viola at an intermediate level considered an asset. It is likely that we will be able to facilitate further work within the music community of qathet/Powell River should the selected candidate be interested in moving to the area.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide private violin/fiddle and possibly viola instruction to students aged 4 to adult

  • Teach 5–10 hours per week from September 8, 2025 to June 19, 2026, with potential renewal for the 2026–2027 school year

  • Participate in up to 2 recitals per year (paid)

  • Prepare and conduct lessons professionally and with care

  • Support and motivate students with kindness, encouragement, and constructive feedback

  • Provide consistent lesson notes (video, paper, or digital)

  • Communicate with parents about lesson content and weekly practice goals

  • Maintain attendance records using My Music Staff

  • Communicate effectively with administrative staff

  • Be open to collaborative curriculum planning using Suzuki, RCM, Fiddleworks, and other resources

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Music or Music Education an asset

  • Minimum 3 years of experience teaching violin/fiddle to students aged 4+

  • Familiarity with Suzuki and RCM curriculum

  • Strong experience working with young children
