Organization Description:

DOXA Documentary Film Festival, produced by the Documentary Media Society, is a
community-oriented arts organization that premieres Canadian and international documentaries to
Vancouver audiences during an annual 11-day festival, along with year-round programming and
initiatives. The next festival will take place May 1-11, 2025.
The Documentary Media Society is a member tenant of the 110 Arts Co-op which manages The Post at 750 office and studio facilities.

Job Description:

The Partnerships & Development Manager will work closely with the Managing Director and the Programming team to provide organizational leadership and strategic planning and direction. This individual is responsible for executing effective development and partnership strategies while working within the mission, vision, and values of DOXA. An ideal candidate possesses leadership qualities, is proactive, collaborative, self-motivated, organized, and passionate to strengthen our community.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and sociable individual who is passionate about the arts to join our small team. This is a unique opportunity to learn and expand your skills within an open-minded mid-size festival that operates within a collaborative management style.

Term

Contract dates : mid-January to end of May 2025
Seasonal full time, 35 hours/week
Salary: $28 to $30 per hour, depending on experience

Responsibilities:

Partnerships

In collaboration with the Managing Director, establish a strategy to develop new partnerships with private companies, institutions and professional organizations
Conduct research to identify government and corporate funding prospects
Lead, foster, and maintain DOXA’s partnerships with key sponsorship partners
Maintain accurate records of all sponsorships
Negotiate and manage sponsorship agreements and deliverables
Cultivate relationships with like-minded organizations and community members
Provide support to the Managing Director in setting financial targets and meeting organizational short and long-term goals
Prepare fundraising and sponsorship materials (may include sponsorship proposals and contracts, impact reports, donor communications, etc.)

Fundraising / Donors

Conduct research to identify individual and foundations prospects
Research new fundraising opportunities and increase revenue streams from sponsorships and fundraising events
Maintain relationships with existing donors and work to grow donor base
Manage a dynamic calendar of fundraising campaigns, programs and events
Maintain accurate report of all donations

Grants
Establish and maintain a calendar summarizing the grants that DOXA can benefit from
Operate a strategic monitoring of available public grants
In collaboration with the Managing Director and, if necessary, an external consultant, prepare and assemble grant applications
Crafting reports needed by funding institutions

Advertising

Prospect and negotiate for advertising sales
In collaboration with the Communication & Marketing Manager, share the technical specifications with the clients, collect the assets and check their conformity

Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary program in a related field and/or relevant work experience in non-profit management, fundraising and/or business development, ideally in an arts and culture environment
Experience with event planning and customer service
Experience in negotiating partnership agreements will be considered an asset
Knowledge of the financing system of arts organisations in Canada
Highly motivated and willing to support organizational needs beyond primary responsibilities
Positive, professional demeanor. Very comfortable with donor relations
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
Superior attention to detail and deadline-oriented
Sales and data management experience
Proficient in a range of computer software programs, particularly Microsoft Office, G Suite
Thrives in an open office work environment
