Job Description - Mini Music Makers Teacher
We are seeking a passionate and musically trained Mini Music Makers (MMM) Teacher to work with young children aged 0 to 5 years old and conduct joyful early childhood music classes to children and families. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for early childhood music education, excellent rapport with young children and families, and experience in the developmental growth of children. Candidates should be knowledgeable in foundational music skills, early childhood learning theories, and teaching strategies, with experience in classroom management and guidance. They will bring creativity, resourcefulness, and strong communication skills to foster a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment. Our program provides Babies and Toddler classes (parent participation), and Preschooler and Kindergarten classes (children attend independently). For Preschool and Kindergarten classes, a Teaching Assistant will be assigned to support the MMM Teacher.
This is a part-time contracted position, with potential teaching opportunities in the mornings and afternoons on weekdays and/or weekends, at our Vancouver location and future satellite locations across the Lower Mainland.

Responsibilities:

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Attend and successfully complete all necessary orientation sessions and MMM training (duration varies based on teacher qualifications and experience).
• Plan lessons and deliver instruction based on the MMM Framework, with observations and feedback provided during the first term to help teachers better understand the framework.
• Submit lesson plans or provide prompt feedback to the Early Childhood Education Officer (ECME) when required and be involved in the pedagogical development of the Program
Provide constructive feedback to parents and submit progress reports at the end of each term.
• Attend and participate in occasional department meetings, the annual faculty meeting, seasonal events, in-class student performances or open classes.
• Adhere to the terms outlined in the VSO SoM Faculty Handbook, Mini Music Makers Policies, Code of Conduct, and Safety Policies.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience working with children aged 0-5 years old, with classroom teaching experience preferred.
• Certificate in ECE (Early Childhood Education), ECME (Early Childhood Music Education), or equivalent experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of music fundamentals with the ability to sing in tune and play an instrument, along with basic accompanying skills.
• Demonstrates effective classroom and behavior management skills.
• Excellent communicator with strong listening skills, patience and empathy
• Excellent team player with a passion for teaching and collaboration.

Additional Requirements (applicable to all positions)
• Up to three professional references will be required
• A criminal record background check will be required prior to being hired and is a condition of employment

Remuneration
Faculty members are independent contractors and are paid bi-weekly based on their teaching hours. Compensation is determined by hourly rates: the group instruction rate is $70-85 per hour, depending on the teacher's qualifications, experience, and the offer from VSO SoM.
