Job Description:
RDYO is seeking an Orchestra Assistant who will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of rehearsals, auditions, and events throughout the season. This role supports the logistical and operational needs working closely with the operations team, faculty, students, and parents. The ideal candidate is organized, responsible, can work independently, and comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Audition Logistics Support (June)
Coordinate and support the flow of in-person auditions to ensure they run on schedule without delays.
Assist with setup, check-in, and communication between audition rooms.Weekly Rehearsal Coordination
Support, arrange, and coordinate weekly rehearsals at two locations in Richmond: St. Alban’s Church and St. Anne’s Church.
Responsible for opening and securing venues before and after rehearsals.
Set up and take down chairs, stands, and other necessary equipment.
Ensure rehearsal spaces are organized, safe, and ready for use.
Provide support to students, parents and faculty
Maintain the tidiness and organization of the storage area at St. Alban’s Church.Event Support (Throughout the Season)
Assist in planning and executing concerts, workshops, competitions, and other special events.
Coordinate logistics such as equipment transport, venue access, setup, and takedown.
Serve as on-site support during events to ensure smooth operations.
Weekend availability is required for events including concerts, workshops, competition and any special events.Music Camp Support
Participate in the planning and delivery of the annual weekend Music Camp.
Attend the camp and provide logistical and operational support on-site.
Music camp dates: Oct 11–12, 2025Parent & Participant Communication
Serve as a friendly and helpful point of contact for parents and participants during times being on-site.
Respond to questions and direct inquiries as needed.Other Duties as Assigned
Flexibly support additional administrative, operational, or logistical needs as they arise.
Work Schedule:
Regular rehearsals are on Saturdays 8:30am–2:30pm
Availability to work weekends (especially Saturdays and Sundays for most scheduled events).
Other pre and post event working hours are flexible.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to lift 30 lbs, and move chairs, stands, and equipment
Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
Experience working in performing arts or youth programs is an asset.
Background in music or arts administration is a strong asset.
Will be required to obtain Criminal Record Check
Must be legally able to work in Canada

Remuneration:
This is a 10-month contract position with a total compensation of $7,000, based on an average of 30 hours of work per month. The contract term begins on September 1, 2025 and concludes on June 30, 2026. This position is subject to renewal and may include opportunities for expansion and further development depending on organizational needs and performance.
