Peak Performance Applications Open — BC Alliance for Arts + Culture

Peak Performance Applications Open

100.5 The PEAK and Music BC have announced that applications are now open for The fourth annual PEAK Performance Project.

Nominations may be submitted at peakperformanceproject.com

Over two million dollars has already been invested into the BC music community by the project and, now in their fourth year, another $320,000 will be awarded to British Columbia artists to support the province’s burgeoning music scene.

In the first three years, the program saw participants win multiple JUNO Awards, tour internationally, release numerous critically acclaimed albums, and create strong identities for the emerging Canadian acts.

What artists are saying about the Project:

“ …to be given financial support of this magnitude is absolutely incredible. Life-changing, in fact." Tyler Bancroft, Said the Whale

“…it doesn’t feel like a competition, it feels like a community.” Kuba Oms

“…not only did I learn a lot about myself musically, but I felt like the experience actually changed me as a person. Boot Camp truly is about forming a network and a community and the culmination of meaningful relationships I formed over that week, was a prize in itself.” Jean-Paul Maurice

After a grueling six month program, including an industry boot camp and juried showcases, the Top 5 will be announced on November 2, 2012, followed by a Finale Concert at the Commodore Ballroom.

Awards for Year 4 will be as follows:

  • First place: $100.5 Thousand Dollars
  • Second Place: $75,000
  • Third Place: $50,000
  • Fourth Place: $10,000
  • Fifth Place: $5,000
  • Base camp awards totaling $80,000

Says Bob D’Eith, executive director of Music BC: “100.5 The PEAK has given BC artists a real chance to succeed in today’s changing music world. It is the most impactful BC based program that we have had the honour to be involved with. The PEAK Performance Project is changing musician’s lives in a profound way.”

Assistant Program Director of 100.5 The PEAK , Tamara Stanners adds: “For us, the PEAK Performance Project has become an integral part of what 100.5 the PEAK is. The artists who we have had the immense pleasure of getting to know and support through the project have become almost synonymous with who we are as a radio station. I cannot wait to see who will come through our doors in the PEAK Performance Project 2012 edition. We are super excited to fall in love with 20 new artists. 100.5 The PEAK is committed to the development of new and emerging BC music artists."

The PEAK Performance Project is designed to educate, promote, develop and hopefully launch the careers of some of BC’s up and coming artists. It also hopes to foster the BC music industry and create a sense of community amongst music professionals. The PEAK is investing  $5,290,000 over seven years or $755,000 per year in the PEAK Performance Project, through CTRC approved Canadian Content Development funds.

The program is administered by the Music BC Industry Association.
