Call for Participation from Artists and Community-Engaged Practitioners
/Culture + Community is an annual gathering of artists, and cultural practitioners, community leaders and citizens addressing and celebrating the current state of social practice and community arts practice at the local level, as well as in the context of international artistic practices. This year, the event will be held in dialogue with New York-based Creative Time’s annual summit Art, Place and Dislocation in the 21st Century.
Proposals are being accepted to explore interrogate or activate outdoor sites in the False Creek Flats vicinity with small groups of attendees at the event on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Proposed activities should be well-suited for groups of 10 – 20 people, be located outdoors along the Great Northern Way Corridor (Main Street to Clark Drive), and take place over the course of two hours.
To submit a proposal for participation, please submit the following information:
- your name and institution (if applicable)
- a short description of your proposed project (300- 500 words)
- no more than 5 images (jpeg or pdf)
- an indication of how the project responds to the themes and questions raised by the event

Please note: Artist fees will be paid in accordance with CARFAC fee schedules; however, we are not able to support travel or production expenses for those presenting projects. We are also happy to support your participation by providing you with a letter confirming your participation.
This event is co-hosted by the City of Vancouver/Cultural Services, Emily Carr University of Art + Design and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.
