Vancouver’s renowned pride of singing lions, Chor Leoni Men’s Choir, is pleased to announce the appointment of Erick Lichte as artistic director effective September 2013, at which point founder and current artistic director, Diane Loomer, C.M. will step into her new active role as the choir’s conductor emerita.

Long a supporter of arts and culture, the Festival is thrilled to enter into this partnership as it celebrates its 35th year as one of North Americaʼs largest wine festivals.

This Friday's Vancouver AM Tourism Association breakfast celebration of Culture Days will include a piano recital, juggling, an electric cello performance, and brief talks about Culture Days by Vancouver actor / musician (and Spirit of the West frontman) John Mann and TELUS Community Board and Knowledge Network Chair Nini Baird.

Factors in Canadians’ Arts Attendance in 2010, the 38th report in the Statistical Insights on the Arts series from Hill Strategies Research, examines the dynamics of attendance at five arts activities: art galleries, theatres, classical music performances, popular music performances, and cultural festivals. In addition to an analysis of demographic factors, the report provides substantial information about cultural crossovers. The analysis of “cultural crossovers” examines whether participants in one cultural activity are more or less likely to attend other arts activities.

The third annual Culture Days weekend kicks off this Friday, September 28 and runs through Saturday, September 29th and Sunday, September 30th with some 7,000 FREE activities happening in nearly 800 Canadian cities and towns from coast to coast to coast. Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival will launch a leadership transition process this fall, following the resignation of the Festival’s Managing Director, Robert Barr. Barr, who has been the Festival’s administrative leader for eight years, announced his resignation today and said he will be officially ending his tenure in November.
