Bard on the Beach Acquires Playhouse Costume Collection

The unique collection of theatrical costumes, assembled over almost 50 years by the former Vancouver Playhouse Theatre, will continue to serve the city's performing arts community. Through an agreement with longtime Vancouver theatre supporters Paul and Darlene Howard, Bard on the Beach will assume care and management of the collection.

2013 City of Vancouver Book Award Shortlist

A memoir, two books of poetry and two non-fiction works, all of which reflect Vancouver’s rich history and culture, have been selected as finalists for the 2013 City of Vancouver Book Award.

The 25th annual City of Vancouver Book Award will be presented at the Mayor’s Arts Awards Gala at TELUS World of Science on November 22.

Have Your Say: Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza Redevelopment

For Vancouverites, the Georgia Street Plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery has long been a public gathering place where we meet, celebrate, and express our opinions.

A team of designers unveiled a series of concepts at its first open house on October 1, and you are invited to provide your feedback. The proposed designs were developed using public feedback from consultations held in October of last year. Following open house sessions this month, public feedback and comments will help to create the design for the plaza.

The Province of British Columbia is currently reviewing its liquor policies with an eye to improving consumer convenience, the economy, and public health and safety.

Provincial liquor policy affects arts and culture groups in many different ways from gallery openings, to performances and fundraising events. From now until October 31, 2013 they are inviting all interested parties to provide feedback.

Conductor Bramwell Tovey Receives Two New Honours

Vancouver composer, conductor, and pianist Bramwell Tovey has been inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame along with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, as announced by Premier Christy Clark and Vancouver City Councillor Elizabeth Ball Saturday night. Tovey will receive an engraved panel on the Granville Street Star Walk.
