As you know, on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 British Columbians will go to the polls. Are the arts a priority for this election's candidates?
"Arts Vote" is a non-partisan, grassroots social media movement everywhere elections are happening. Initially activated in some Canadian municipal elections, its purpose is to keep arts and culture on the agenda of election campaigns and increase voter turnout among arts supporters.

The annual awards, established to recognize the achievements and contributions to the arts by Richmond residents, artists, educators, organizers and business leaders, were developed in 2009 by the City of Richmond in partnership with the Richmond Arts Coalition and are presented with the support of Richmond News and Tempest Development Group.

The annual PACT conference offers four days of face-to-face networking, hands-on workshops, international inspiration and open forum discussion. The conference acts as a hub for conversations that have occurred throughout the calendar year and offers much opportunity for new discussion, debate and collaboration.
This year's primary speakers and workshop focus: Cassie Meador, artistic director, and John Borstel, senior advisor (Humanities) of Dance Exchange (US) will lead delegates through the Critical Response Process.

Read MoreThe BC government announced yesterday (April 9) increased support for the BC Arts Council Scholarship program, providing more opportunities for young British Columbians to study the arts.
Program funding will increase from $150,000 to $750,000 this year. As a result, the number of scholarships granted to British Columbians studying the arts could more than triple, from about 50 to as high as 175. The new funding increases the maximum value of the scholarships from $4,000 to $6,000.
